What it is for

A desk in a bedroom is furniture first and equipment second, and colour does most of that work. In white this 48 by 24 inch model reads as a dressing table with drawers until the laptop is opened, which is what makes it tolerable in a room that has to switch roles every evening. The mechanism and the drawer layout are the same as the black version.

Check before you order. White drawer fronts show hand marks near the pull. Fine in daily use, but if the desk faces the door it is worth a wipe more often than a black one would need.

What assembly actually means

Same sequence as the rest of the drawer models. One extra step worth taking on white: check the drawer runners glide freely before the top goes on the frame, because a runner adjusted upside down on the floor is far easier to reach than one adjusted under an assembled desk.

What it changes

Closed drawers hide the visual noise of chargers and paperwork, which is the single biggest difference between a bedroom that has a desk and a bedroom that looks like an office.
The white surface reflects lamplight upward, useful in a room where the main light is behind the user rather than above the desk.
Four presets mean the desk can be dropped to its lowest setting at the end of the day so it stops dominating the room.

In one line each

White top measuring 48 by 24 inches
Pair of suspended drawers, 26.4 lbs per shelf

Figures as published for this model. Anything that has never been published is left out rather than estimated.

Where this one sits among the 13

The same figures as every other page in this section, lined up against the section itself. Being the biggest at something is not the same as being the best at it, so the last column says where a number puts this model and leaves the judgement to you.

Figure	This model	All 13 desks	Where that puts it
Top width	48 in	40 to 71 in	Wider than 4 of the other 12
Top depth	24 in	23.6 to 30 in	Deeper than 3 of the other 12
Lowest height	28.3 in	27.9 to 28.35 in	Lower than 2 of the other 12

Ranges cover only the desks that publish the figure at all; a model that has never published one is left out of that row rather than counted as a zero.

What the extra money actually buys

Figures on which this model beats every cheaper desk in the section, rather than beating a convenient one.

Top width 48 in. Wider than every one of the 1 cheaper model that publish this figure, the best of which is 40 in.

Where it sits in the range

Of the 13 desks in this section this is the second cheapest: 1 costs less, 11 cost more, and the section runs from $129.99 to $359.99. It carries a published list price of $162.99, so the figure above is below that rather than the usual asking price.

Against everything cheaper in the section it is ahead on one figure: top width at 48 in. That is the useful comparison, because it is the part of the price you can point at.

It carries 635 customer reviews at 4.5 out of five, which is the highest rating in the section. Those numbers come from the retail listing and are reproduced rather than curated, including when they are unflattering.
