Electric Desk Frame, Single Motor - Grey

A frame that has to match nothing in particular

$104.39 4.7 (1,360)

What it is for

Grey is the useful answer when the top has not been chosen yet, or when the desk sits in a room that already has both dark and light furniture in it. This frame takes the same 39.4 to 63.3 inch span and the same 176 lb load as its black and white siblings, and the mid-tone finish reads as neutral against almost any top rather than committing to one.

Check before you order. Grey is a mid-tone and will not disappear against either extreme. If the top is a strong colour rather than a wood or a neutral, the black frame usually recedes further than this one does.

What assembly actually means

Assembly is the standard sequence for the single-motor frames: legs to the crossbar, feet on, telescope out to the width of the top, square the diagonals, then mark and drill. Grey powder coat is the most forgiving of the three finishes if a spanner slips, which makes it the easiest first frame to build.

What it changes

  • A neutral finish keeps future options open, because a grey base does not have to be replaced if the top gets swapped from dark to light.
  • Same telescoping span as the other single-motor frames, so accessories and cable trays sold for the range fit without modification.
  • The single column leaves the whole underside free, which matters more on a self-built desk where the top may not be pre-cut for cable routing.

Where this one sits among the 5

The same figures as every other page in this section, lined up against the section itself. Being the biggest at something is not the same as being the best at it, so the last column says where a number puts this model and leaves the judgement to you.

Ranges cover only the frames that publish the figure at all; a model that has never published one is left out of that row rather than counted as a zero.

Where it sits in the range

Of the 5 frames in this section this is the third cheapest: 2 cost less, 2 cost more, and the section runs from $99.98 to $199.99.

There is no figure here on which it beats everything cheaper in the section, so if none of the 2 below it is missing something you need, the difference is colour, top size or finish rather than capability.

It carries 1,360 customer reviews at 4.7 out of five, which is the highest rating in the section. Those numbers come from the retail listing and are reproduced rather than curated, including when they are unflattering.
